Valentine Sports Park hosted the 2019 State Cup Finals on Sunday where Sutherland Shire Football Association was represented with eight (8) teams competing in the various tournaments.
In the Under 12s local derby, Lilli Pilli FC enjoyed a 3 – 1 victory over Marton thanks to goals by Lewis Freeman, Solomon Freeman and William Crowe. Ned Gemmell scored Marton’s goal.
The Bill Cullinan Cup was taken home by the Kirrawee Kangaroos in what was a thrilling display of football. The Kirrawee Kanagroos emerging victorious for a second year in a row within this competition, to become champions once more. Sylvania W14s, winners of last year’s W12s Cheryl Sainsbury Cup, celebrated consecutive State Cup titles with their 1-0 victory over Pittwater RSL.
And Como Over 35s enjoyed State Cup success with a 2 -1 victory over Dunbar Rovers.
Unfortunately Gymea (Under 15s) Miranda (Under 17s) and Lilli Pilli (Under 18s) tried hard but ended up as runners up in their various competitions.
